The Midland Empire Legion #38 held a Legion Celebration in Glendive, MT on April 10 & 11, 2010. A good time was had by all Legionaries.
We installed the new officers for the coming year. They are: President - Roy Ferguson, Vice President - Ron Shevela, Chaplain - Ron Ronningen, Financial Director - Dean Rehbein, Fraternal Director - Chuck Siemens, Jr. Past President - Gordon Campbell, and Secretary - Ernie Coppedge. These officers were duly installed by Moose Legion Ambassador Tom Armstrong who was one of our official visitors along with the Deputy Supreme Governor Ray Mayers.
There were 20 Legionaries and 9 ladies in attendance. The next celebration will be held in Lewistown, MT on June 12 & 13, 2010.

Hi! Everyone:
I hope everyone had fun on St. Patrick’s day and a Happy Easter Sunday. As I was watching the grandkids look for Easter eggs I was thinking that this is a good time to appreciate all the good things we have in our life. Our families, our homes, our communities and last, but not least, our Moose Fraternity and all our co-workers who work so hard on fund raisers, community service, events and activities. We really do appreciate you and all the work you do for the Moose Fraternity.
I wish all the new officers the best of luck in the coming year. If your officers ask you to be a Chairman, please do so. You need to support and help them all you can. They do an awful lot of work for the Chapter. It is not just about you and I, it is about the children. Remember to have fun in your Chapters. Life is short! Enjoy it!
We were saddened to hear of the passing of Past Grand Regent, Marion Friend. She was a great lady that was dedicated and will be remembered for her years of service and commitment to the Women of the Moose. It is good to have an end to journey toward; but in the end it is the journey that counts.

Twenty four applications were reviewed for the Lewistown Moose Legion Scholarships. Applications came from Lewistown, Moore, Judith Gap, Hobson, Stanford, Denton, Winifred, Roy, Grass Range and Winnett. The committee awarded a $500.00 scholarship to the following two students.
Caleb Caquelin, a senior at Stanford High School has been active in the Business Professionals of America for 3 years. He is active in football, basketball, track, band and is on the yearbook staff. He has been involved with the Big Wolf/Little Wolf mentoring program for 4 years and is active in 4-H Shooting Sports. He is planning to attend MSU at Missoula this fall.
Dawnita Deichmann is a senior at Hobson Public School. She has been active in the National Honor society, is the 2010 class Salutatorian, has served as an officer for the FFA, has been a member of Business Professionals of America, band, choir, track and field. Dawnita has been part of the Tiger Buddies mentoring program, 4-H club, MT/WY Salers, and MT Junior Miss Scholarship Program. She plans to attend Montana State University in Bozeman.
Megan Ray from the Denton Public Schools, who is very active in her community, was chosen as an alternate. If one of the above can not attend college for some reason, Megan would receive one of the scholarships.
Each year the Moose Legion awards two scholarships of $500.00 each to students from Lewistown and surrounding schools. The monies are raised through various Legion fund raising projects held during the year.

A joint Awards presentation took place during the Family Dinner on April 17. Honors were given to the following members who were present:
5 Years of Membership: Bertha Roberts, Darla Reed, Sue Costello and Ann Leland.
10 years of membership: Jane McGiboney, Esther Wormell, Stacie Sallee, Kyle Carlisle.
15 years of membership: Coralie Sciuchetti and Doris Stephens
20 years of membership: Ken Doney
30 years of membership: Kathleen Alford
35 years of membership: Ernie Coppedge
40 years of membership: Bill Steel
50 years of membership: Larry Jennings
